Just a note to express my appreciation and thanks for another great Cowboy Gathering. Rosanne and I sure enjoyed the weekend, and we appreciate all that you and all of those involved in organizing the event did to bring it off again. How wonderful to be able meet chuckwagon cooks, real working cowboys, singers and musicians, and aficionados of our western and frontier heritage, all in the heart of the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. You even ordered perfect weather for us! Again, congratulations and a heartfelt "Thank You" from both of us for an outstanding event and a wonderful weekend. Kyle and Rosanne - Houston, TX

Dear Shirley and Gail, I just wanted to drop you both a quick note of thanks for allowing my son Aden to participate in the youth cook off in Fort Worth. He was thrilled to participate and Susan and I both are so thankful a program like this exists. This is a piece of living history that a kid can experience firsthand instead of reading about in a history book. His first competition was at Clarendon and he was really excited to have the opportunity to cook again in Fort Worth. He's still talking about it and we have been really surprised at the number of people that have approached him inquiring about his new found interest. There was a short write up in the Marietta paper about him participating and placing 2nd with his meat entry which has generated a lot of the questions. He has been quick to show off his new buckle to anyone that would look. Again, thank you and thanks to all the people involved in the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering that make the event possible. Please continue the youth cook off in future gatherings. Best regards, Willis, Susan and Aden - Marietta, OK

From friends across the continent: We arrived home from Fort Worth on Wednesday having experienced one of the best holidays ever &  the highlight was the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering. The Quebe Sister were a treat on the eye as well the ear and they are holders of the future of Texas Swing! Don Edwards is a wonderful storyteller. I enjoyed his music.
Jean Prescott&  Dan Roberts were both a pleasure to meet and to hear perform.  Many many thanks, not just for the music but for the Cowboy Gathering& indeed for Texas!  Fond regards, John

A big "thank you" for another outstanding Cowboy Gathering.  I came in on the wagon train again this year and as times before, nothing captures "the spirit of the West" like the arrival into "Cowtown" with all the fanfare!  Thank you for all the careful and long term
planning, hard work, organization, sweat and probably some tears to make everything come together so successfully.  It's great to see events like this that are family-oriented where memories are made and history is remembered.  Well done, my friend and God bless you
greatly.  Dr. Jon Ogle "Cowboy Jon" , Teamster - Rockin O Ranch - Heb 6:10

I just wanted to let you know that once again we had a fantastic time. This was our second gathering .We brought our adult children with us this year. It will become an annual event for our family ,Lord willing and schedules allowing. My son is going to be graduating college in December. He has a degree in radio broadcasting. He hopes to one day have a radio show dedicated to cowboy and western swing music and cowboy poetry. My oldest son said ,"If church was always like this I would go every week. " Everyone involved in the gathering makes you feel like a friend . Red ,you and your music mean a lot to our family. God Bless all involved and thank you for providing our family with a place to relax and enjoy what we love most. - Thanks, Lori Hays ,LPN

"Mr. Steagall, I just wanted to thank you for allowing my late husband, Ed Hulse, and me to have a memorable time over the last 11 years by going to the Cowboy Gathering in Fort Worth.  Ed loved everything cowboy, but especially the chuckwagons. He would have been a good cook out on the roundup. I always said he was born a generation too late.  My cowboy died 2 weeks after last years gathering.  That was the last outing we had and I just wanted you to know how much this meant to us and now to me.  If you have a way of contacting Don Edwards or Dan Roberts, would you please let them know that their songs, Don's album which contained the drifting cowboy song, and Blue heeler and Old cowboy blues by Dan, were the music played at the funeral home to send my cowboy home to heaven.  I thank you all for making our 25 years together so memorable. God Bless and keep doing what you're doing because there may be another cowboy out there craving good times and great memories." -Thank you, Lynn Hulse  Stephenville, Texas

"Dear Mr. Steagall, I wanted to drop you a note and tell you how much we enjoyed our trip to Fort Worth this weekend to the Gathering. My wife Vicky and I traveled down from Oklahoma and met her parents there. Swing music has always been a favorite of mine. I purchased the 45 "Lone Star Beer and Bob Wills Music" when I was a teenager and played it till I nearly wore it out. (I found it a while back and played it for my adult daughters). It was a pleasure meeting you. Thank you for putting the weekend together. I look foward to returning next year. If you are ever near Fort Gibson, OK, "the latch string will be out" as my Daddy used to say. God Bless." -Sincerely, Greg Phares

"Hello - I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the gathering. It was our first time coming to the event. It was the best time ever. We plan on coming again next year. We enjoyed the rodeos very much. We don't have ranch rodeos very often in Missouri. I was also impressed at how accessible all the celebrities were. Meting Red was definitely one of the highlights. His music and poetry mean a lot to our family." -Thank you again, and God Bless, Lori Hays

"Last Saturday my wife and I attended the Cowboy Gathering and Ranch Rodeo at the Fort Worth Stockyards. It was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves." Thank you, Dennis

"We attended the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering and Ranch Rodeo Saturday. The Gathering was a wonderful event, but unfortunately many do not realize the risk these young ment take daily to keep the cowboy heritage alive."

"Red-You have such a great way of making everyone feel so special. The Jardine outfit was completely thrilled with the Cowboy Gathering, in every regard. Count on us being back in 2009."-Bobby McGee, Jardine Foods

"Red, Thanks for a wonderful weekend! I have a feeling this was the biggest Gathering in the 18 years. Thanks for making such a difference in so many lives. There were a lot of smiles on people's faces throughout the weekend, both young and old."

"This was our first year to attend the Cowboy Gathering and it was great! God willing it will not be the last. It was our kind of music and just made us realize how much we miss it now days. Not much Country Music anymore. What a shame that our grandkids think they are listening to country music with the likes of Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, etc.!! They are okay singers but it "ain't" country---at least not in our opinion. We know it takes a lot of time and effort to put it together each year and we just hope it's as much fun for the Steagalls as it was for us on Saturday. We're already looking forward to next year!"-Bob and Evelyn Sutter Crawford, Texas

"Well, you did it again! It was great and the weather couldn't have been better. My husband Lee is the 2007 artist of the year designated by the Texas State Commission of the Arts and he got some great shots, and the light was perfect."-Meg Garland, Waco Texas

"Hi Everyone, Just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work this weekend. The Gathering was another great one to put down in the books. Thanks for all you did for us. Have a great week!"-Debbie, Young Ranch

"Hi! What a nice, crazy, fun weekend! It has always been a fun event but it seems every year it gets better if that is possible. Please tell Red how much we appreciate his asking us to participate. It is truly a highlight for us and sincerely means so much to all of us to be included."-Quebe Sisters Band

Thanks and we love y'all. - Sherry

"I would like to thank you, Red and Gail, and anyone else responsible for having me at your gathering, and what a gathering it was! I don't know when Glen and I have had a better time. The motel was a fine place to stay and the whole line-up of events was more than I imagined. Glen especially enjoyed the ranch rodeo. Would you believe, he had never seen one? He really liked watching the horses work. Anyway, thank you so much for inviting me and rolling out the red carpet."-Yvonne

"Red, Debbie, Casey, Gail, Bill, and all: Thanks so much for all the work you do to put together the Gathering. We appreciate the hours and hard work you put in. It means so much to us to be part of the Gathering, we are truly honored! Thank you for helping preserve our western heritage and providing an example of living history with the chuck wagon camp. We have so much fun meeting people and visiting as they tour the wagon camp. Again, thank you, thank you!"-John and Becky Conway

"Our family visited the Cowboy Gathering for the first time ever this weekend (although we've listened to Red's music for many years). We plan to make the Cowboy Gathering an annual family event! It was delightful to step back into the Old West. We also appreciate Red's graciousness in posing for a picture with my husband and son after Cowboy Church this morning."Ridin' for the Lord's brand, Ben, Melissa and Wyatt Jones

"Hey Red, I've been going to your Cowboy Gathering for the past 4 years and I just wanna say thanks for keeping our heritage alive. I like going somewhere that cowboy doesn't translate into big buckles and flashy bull riding. Thank you sir and see you this year."
