Folks from all over the United States come to our gathering to see what Fort Worth and the Western lifestyle is all about. They leave with a new understanding that it’s about the people, the heritage, the traditions and the values that we treasure.

Being a part of the RSCG means being a part of our western heritage and culture that has shaped not only our country but also the way of life and living that we still value and hold so dear today. It means being an active participant in living history.

When you’re out in the vastness of the West Texas plains and depending on each other for survival, you learn from a very early age how to take care of other people, be kind, be responsible and be respectful. That’s the cowboy way of life that I love and I adore.

From a personal viewpoint, I consider Red to be one of the ranching industry’s biggest and most valuable icons for keeping the cowboy way of life alive. From his music and poetry to his interviews and infectious kindness, Red is the best I know of to personify the essence of what a cowboy truly is at heart.

I am so very proud to have been a part of the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering for over 30 years; almost as proud and blessed to have worked for Red Steagall for almost 48 years! I cannot adequately express how much this event means to me and the dear friends I have made who I have had the privilege of working with over the years. All of our hard work is so worth our mission of preserving and perpetuating our western lifestyle that we all so dearly love.
